Privacy Policy
Effective April 30, 2026. Plain language, because you should be able to read this.
Pathways Beyond Barriers, Inc. ("PBB," "we," "us") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Houston, Texas. This policy explains what information we collect through pathwaysbeyondbarriers.org and pbbinc.org (the "Site"), how we use it, and your choices. By using the Site, you agree to this policy.
What we collect
What you give us. Your name, email, phone number, mailing address, and anything you include in our contact form, volunteer, tutor, mentor, or program applications, event and interest-list sign-ups, and newsletter sign-ups. Applications may ask for more detail, such as a student's grade level or a volunteer's availability.
Donations. Donations, including monthly gifts, are processed by Zeffy under Zeffy's own privacy policy. We receive your name, contact information, gift amount, and date. We never receive or store your full card or bank account number.
What's collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our website host (Wix) and analytics tools may collect your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring website, and the dates and times of your visits, using cookies and similar technologies.
How we use it
- To respond to you and run our programs, events, and services
- To review volunteer, tutor, mentor, and program applications, including any screening required for adults who work with minors
- To process donations and send tax receipts
- To send updates and newsletters you signed up for
- To understand how the Site is used and improve it
- To keep records required by law and to protect the safety of participants, volunteers, and PBB
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, including donor information. We share information only:
- With service providers that help us operate, under their own privacy terms: Wix (website, forms, and newsletter sign-ups), Zeffy (donations), Google (Workspace email, Forms, and Analytics), and Meta (website measurement through the Meta Pixel)
- When required by law or legal process, or to protect someone's safety
- With your permission
Cookies and analytics
The Site uses cookies needed to run it and analytics cookies to measure visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work without them. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The Site does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals.
Children's privacy
Our programs serve young people, but this Site is for adults: parents, guardians, volunteers, donors, and partners. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. A parent or guardian must complete registration for any program participant under 18. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Photos, names, and stories
We do not publish a minor's full name, school, or photo without written permission from a parent or guardian. We name or show adults, including volunteers, team members, and Sponsored Educators, only with their permission. To ask us to remove a photo or name, email us.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us. We may still send donation receipts and messages about an application or registration you started.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, including donation and tax records we are required to keep. After that, we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, including secure (HTTPS) connections and limiting access to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete your personal information, or to stop contacting you, by emailing info@pathwaysbeyondbarriers.org. We will respond within 30 days. We may keep information we are legally required to keep.
Other websites
The Site links to other websites, such as Zeffy, Google Forms, and our social media pages. Their privacy policies apply when you use them.
Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
