Young people shouldn't have to figure out a system that was never designed to give everyone the same chance.

We built Pathways Beyond Barriers because we've seen what happens when potential exists but access doesn't. Talent gets overlooked. Opportunities go unexplored. Young people are left navigating challenges they were never equipped to face alone.

We're here to change that.

Why this work matters.

A lot of talented young people get stuck. It isn't a lack of ambition or effort. Nobody handed them the roadmap: how credit works, what to ask a counselor, which form to fill out, who to call when something goes wrong.

We give students and young adults practical resources and steady people in their corner, so they can make informed choices and build stable footing.

We don't lower the standard to make room for more people.

We remove the barriers that keep them from reaching it.

What guides our work.

We believe young people can do more than the circumstances they're born into. But believing in potential means little if we're not willing to create the opportunities for it to grow.

These are the principles behind our work.

Preparation Over Pity

We don't believe in feeling sorry for young people. We believe in preparing them. That means giving them access to the knowledge, relationships, resources, and real-world skills that too many are expected to figure out on their own.

Access Over Assumptions

We don't assume young people lack ambition because they lack opportunity. We recognize that not everyone has been given the same resources, exposure, or support. Instead of questioning what someone is capable of, we focus on what needs to be made accessible so they have a fair chance to show it.

Clarity Over Confusion

We break down information, make resources easier to access, and help young people turn what they learn into decisions they can actually make for themselves.

Intentionality Over Good Intentions

Caring about the problem isn't the same as doing something about it. We're intentional about what we build, who it serves, and whether it actually makes a difference. Every program, partnership, and resource should have a purpose beyond simply looking good on paper.

Our Founder.

Jazmine Turner is an educator, nonprofit founder, MBA, PMP, and former Big 4 auditor based in Houston.

Before PBB, she spent years in public accounting and other systems-heavy spaces where structure, discipline, and problem-solving were not optional.

Not the cute kind.

The kind you learn when you have to figure things out in real time, sit with what's uncomfortable, and keep building anyway.

Over time, she started asking a different question: what would it look like to build something useful and accessible for people who are constantly expected to figure it out alone?

That question became Pathways Beyond Barriers.
